Robert M. Gruber,
President

Robert M. Gruber founded The Rainier Group in 1988 because he realized the traditional approach to financial planning and products cannot solve the key issues facing owners of privately held companies.

Bob has spent more than 30 years guiding owners of private companies and high net worth individuals through a wide range of complex business, family and financial decisions. That wealth of experience makes The Rainier Group what it is today: A cutting-edge advisor that marries proprietary financial modeling with the acumen earned by advising more than 700 clients through business and personal transition planning.

Prior to founding The Rainier Group, Bob was the regional vice president of a national financial services company.

Bob is a member of Rotary and is the past chair of Family Services of King County. He has also served on the Entrepreneurial Board of the School of Business of Seattle University.

Bob Gruber on the needs of private business owners:

“The owner of a private corporation exists in a complex environment. Many issues an owner may face can be overlapped and unclear. The traditional approach to providing financial solutions has been: build a capability or product and market it as a solution. This approach rarely addresses the inter-related and overlapping issues that are crucial when preparing a lifetime business transition plan.

“As consultants, we saw a need for planning professionals who focus on business transition planning during an owner’s lifetime. This means allowing business owners to get past significant complexities to answer questions such as: Do I give the business to the children? Do I sell to key employees? Do I prepare for retirement? Our holistic approach allows business owners to not only understand the complexity of the overlapping issues that affect their transition outcome, but also to provide them with necessary tools to make informed decisions.”
